I Get Out
It's that time of year.
Time to let go of the past and to reach for the future.
My resolution this year is simple:
I refuse to promote, and profit from "black pathology."
Thug life.
Self-hatred.
Irresponsibility.
Abortion.
Language.
False Culture.
Cashing in on the pain, confusion and "sin" of black people is a big business.
And everywhere you look, us is cashing in on us.
Is this what I have to do to get readers?
Is this what I have to do to get advertisers?
Is that what I have to do to get an "award?"
Count me out.
Yes, I'm in the middle of the Hollywood thing right now, but I refuse to work on or go to any more movies that portray our women as bitches, and our men as pimps.
Does that mean I don't get funding?
Keep your money.
"I get out." (Lauryn Hill)
It's time to rethink our culture, to remember our roots, to forge a new future.
So in this new year, expect me to speak to the best in us versus the worst in us.
I hope you can handle it.
I hope you will join me.
Peace and blessing in the New Year.
